hey this is my first time on here so bear with me...

i guess the problem came about a week ago now. i can't access about half of the websites i try to go to now. this includes my school's website (uncc.edu), yahoo, espn, even itunes store. i can access aim and obviously some sites because i am on here. Sometimes the site will work and then all of a sudden disconnect. the error message iin firefox says "the connection was reset." I didn't make any changes to firewall or anything knowingly. i've run virus and spyware scans...all didn't help. any information on what i can do would be helpful

thanks in advance

Welcome :)

Have you tried with a different browser?

Have you tried via a proxy server?

If it works via a proxy then you probably have DNS problems.
You can reset DNS in XP by going to a repairing your internet connection or opening a command prompt and running the commands ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns

If you still have problems then ask your ISP if they have changed anything.

hey thanks for the help!
In IE it initially goes to the webpage so i can see it briefly, but then redirects it to a google search as if i typed it in wrong saying it can't find it. The proxy server worked, but the commands and reparing connection didn't fix the problem. I guess i will just have to ask about it.

Thanks again
