saw this article (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2105584,00.asp) about how more productive slobs are. What do you think?
I believe it. At work they have gotten into the 5S kick (Sort, Straighten, scrub, Systemise and Sustain). Basically you gotta keep your area organized, neat and such. We spend hours daily just to keep everything that way.

At the very least I could win a prize for being messy. But it's like the guy in the article said, it's an organized mess. I can find anything I need easily within this pile of crap I call my desk, but once it's all organized and pretty I waste more time trying to remember where I stuck something that would normally just be part of the mountain of papers, CD/DVDs, books, cables, spare parts, etc than what it would have taken to shift the pile and retrieve what I'm looking for. But I think it's b/c I have a keen memory for where I last had something I was using. It doesn't seem to work if I last had the item to put it away b/c there's no reference point.

I remember the good old days when my room was nice and organized. Then I started working 4-5 days/week and taking online classes + a heavy school load and my desk shows it. Now it's only kind of organized (read-messy) and driving me nuts. My Start Menu programs & desktop icons were also messy, but I organized those yesterday.

My PC is my desk. My workplace doesn't have enough monitors to contain the multi-tasked workspace I have. Thank God for the virtual desktop powertoy.

Thing is about that, if you're messy you're the only one that can find anything in your mess, if you're organized many people can find whatever you need them to find for you.
