pdf files on MIE6
my PC works on win98se, 512Mb memory. my default browser is IE6 and usually works fine.
from today I cannot read pdf files on the IE6 browser. I can open them directly on Total Commander, from the Adobe reader and on Firefox, but they do not respond on IE6. only a small colored square appears on the upper left of the screen. I tried repair the IE from control panel but it didn't help. it is probably due to some configuration change but i don't know where to find it and how to correct this. please advise thanks Last edited by idr; March 22nd, 2007 at 06:59 AM. |

Hi there, Microsoft has brought out MIE7, (Microsoft Internet Explorer 7) You should try installing that, and also. Because your computer has 512 MB of ram you could even install Windows Vista. But anyway Try installing MIE7 and see if that works. Please let me know how you go.

Noo, 512 mb is not for Vista, you cant run any programs on it. Or games.

Thank you for your concern, James Bond 0007. Yes, you are quite right. XP is better than win98, Vista better still, and the Super Vista which the Microsoft people are probably designing now… Ho! Ho! Ho!
All this for surfers who play games and want to see movies on the computer etc. About ten years ago Windows 98 was considered the most up-to-date, super-duper, unequalled operating system and anybody who didn’t upgrade from his win 3.1 or win 95 was considered silly. When you will reach my age you will find that the worst foe of “good” is “better”, and the best computer program is the one which you know thoroughly. For me win98se is good enough. Yes, it makes problems sometimes, but I hear the same from my grandchildren who work on winXP. My problem with the pdf files is minor. I can read them on other browsers. But I would like still to understand what happened with my IE6 and how to correct it. However thanks again. idr |

I use adobe reader 6. Now downloaded she new? version 6.0.1 and installed, but it didn't help.
I still believe that it is some IE6 configuration fault, as everywhere else the files open without problems. In IE6 the files don't open on- and offline |
