jpg turns into bmp

When i right click on a jpg to save picture, in my "save as" window i get the choice of saving it only as a bitmap? This doesn't happen everytime, but when it does i get 2 choices to save as bmp. No jpg, gif etc

If you're not getting the option to Save As jpeg then try emptying your Temporary Internet Files - that sometimes cures it.

If you are viewing it in AOL's built in browser, make sure the 'use compressed graphics' option isn't checked.

That sometimes happens to me too. I try the things that are listed in the link Tweaker provided. Sometimes just hitting "Refresh" will fix it. I also have found that if the image filename contains an extra dot (".") that nothing will change it from a bmp. I save it as a bmp and convert it with Irfan if I want it bad enough to mess with it.

i just save the file as "whatevername.jpg" instead of ".bmp"

not sure if that is clear ^^^, but say ur saving the file. and u only get the ".bmp" option well instead of saying it as a bmp save it as a jpg by adding the jpg extension.

now give that a try. n it should work. b/c it works for me. so do give a holler back.

Thanks folks, emptying the files did it, so did the naming it "whatever.jpg" Learn something everyday eh? Thanks again.
