bit of a pickle here
so i have been disinfecting a machine here with the help of Mod Tom.
everything has been going well except for a few things here and there; one thing is that i cannot update through microsoft.com with IE7 or any of the IEs for that matter. is there any way to determine what may be wrong here? |

What happens when you try?
It sounds as if maybe the Windows Genuine Advantage software is messing with you. Download it off someone else's machine and then put it on a Flash drive and install on yours.. |

any moderators? pleeease.
tom helped me alleviate this computer's miserably life by ridding of all the pests. automatic updates tab does not show up in the control panel/system portion. is this a registry twitch or am i dealing with something big? |

that did not work. when i go to the microsoft update page, it says it is checking my system and blah blah. one thing pops up and asks if i trust microsoft and what not so i install that. i wait for the active x information bar to come up but nothing happens.
eventually, microsoft page tells me there was an error. this computer has sp2 and what not and is protected so is the automatic updates thing a COMPLETE necessity? or can i live without it and just do manual updates if important stuff comes up? |
