Browser (Firefox & IE) Problems (No System Infection)

Hello All,

I've been on the cyber safety forum but this doesn't appear to be a malware problem.

Appreciate any help.

Here is a summary of the issues...

The following happened occassionally:
- Firefox: the font type and size would change and make it very difficult to read certain websites
- IE: internet explorer pages would not render completely. Parts of pages would be displayed and others would not appear at all.
- Applications: any applications requiring a link to the internet would not work also. So for example, when i click on the "update" screen of AVG Anti Spyware i cannot see all the text and i cannot see any buttons to press.

Up until recently, this issue was usually resolved but running cccleaner, which cleared the various caches etc.. (I think it is like ATF cleaner). But now when i run this and/or ATF and reboot i see no change .

Here is the original thread with logs and remediation we tried..

Really appreciate any help with this as I am baffled!!

Let me know if you would like to see more recent logs!

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard. I checked the topic in the Cyber Safety Forum and I see that you have Avast, AVG, McAfee and remnants of Norton installed. That a powerful cocktail for conflict and may have caused file corruption.

Choose one antivirus program to keep and uninstall the rest. Also go here and run the online Norton Removal Utility. It should get rid of Norton traces. Shut down each AV before uninstalling it and reboot after each uninstall.

If that doesnt help, try repairing XP. See here for more help if you decide to give it a go.
