what giftcards work with paypal?

i bought an american express $100 gift card because i thought it would work on paypal, well that was a big mistake because it says american express wont allow me to use the card or something like that. so my question is does discover gift card (credit card but gift) or the visa card work on paypal to make an active credit card? i don't plan on wasting another $100 so does anyone know?

My wife works for PayPal and she said "no" they have to have a credit card that can be confirmed, or a gift card from Ebay. The other gift cards, they have too much fraud problems with them.
