I'm looking into getting a new laptop. Does anyone recommend a certain brand, type, etc? Dell???

a laptop to do what, business, general usage, gaming? Personally I like hp because of prices. They tend to give you more for your money.

If you are in the UK Dell's seem to be the cheapest with the most to offer... but they come loaded with what is considered spyware. If you want one though.... just try the decrapyfier. (http://www.yorkspace.com/pc-de-crapifier/) ;)

I second Dan's suggestion of an HP computer. In my experience, they have good prices and hardware. IBMs and Apples are nice, but they generally are more expensive for the hardware you get than an HP, Dell, Toshiba, or Gateway. If you are into gaming, Dell's XPS and Alienware notebooks may be suitable, but they are expensive.
