Hi

I live in Australia, and have an ASUS F3JP-AP002 laptop.

I have purchased a NTSC DVD, and wish to watch in on my laptop. I am using DVD Region Free, so the region of the DVD is not an issue. When trying to view the DVD, it results in the laptop freezing. However, I can play the DVD on my other PC fine.

So, is the playback of an NTSC DVD a hardware or software issue? What can I do to my laptop so I can play the DVD?

Thanks

Morry

Do you have DVD decoder software installed?
You will need somthing like powerDVD or winDVD.

I have tried using ASUSTek ASUSDVD, and Windows Media Player. I think I have WinDVD & PowerDVD somewhere, I will install them and let you know the result.
Thanks

I installed PowerDVD (which as it turns out is an older version of ASUSDVD), but it still did not work.

I have also tried importing sections of the DVD into Ulead Video Studio and Cyberlink Power Director, but these do not work either.

I also tried playing the DVD in Vista Ultimate (I have a dual boot setup) using PowerDVD 7, but it did not work either

Which DVD player do you use on the PC it does play on, and have you tried using the same application if possible? If it's not possible, try VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/).
