computer shuts down internet after downaloading jpeg files

I am working on a hp vectra pc with win 98 os. Everytime I download a jpeg file from the email and print it the internet shuts down. Any sugestions ?

Do you use Outlook and Have you checked "Hang up when finished".
That is one reason why Dialup connection shuts down after each Email session but not just for Jpegs.
I don't know if this is the case wth you.

Is it only for JPEGs? Have you installed any ftp downloader such as Getright or Gozilla?

Try removing the connection in Dial Up Networking then recreating it - make sure you have a note of all the server names etc that you will need to do this
