When I connect my eFilm device to my computer (MS Vista), in order to transfer pictures from my digital camera to my computer, my computer does not recognize or acknowledge the eFilm device (USB).

How do I get my computer to recognize a mass storage device (G drive)?

Thank you for any help.

Have you installed the driver for it?

Other USB devices do work in the same USB port I tried using the reader in. I also tried using the reader on another computer, and it worked OK.

I am not on a network, just my home computer.

Chris,
That reader is a plug and play device so as no drivers are needed then your problem can be either the Reader is defective, something is wrong with the port you are using or something is missing from the O.S. Do you have access to another computer? This is the best way to test the reader. If this is not possible then try changing ports or plug another USB device in the same port and see what happens. We have personally tested that Reader with your O.S. so we know it works so perhaps something is missing through the O.S. If this is the case then a windows update will be needed. Are you on a network and already have several devices with removable storage set up through the computer? There are several things that could be causing this issue so get back to me when you get the chance and answer as many questions asked above as possible so that we can narrow the cause down and get this resolved for you.

Did the other PC have Vista?

The only other thing I could think oif would be updating your motherboard/usb drivers.

Try removing USB from the device manager and let it reinstall.

Thanks much for the reply.

The other computer uses XP.

On my PC, under Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Device Manager, I see Universal Serial Bus Controllers. I tried scanning for Hardware Changes and choosing Properties, but don't see how to update drivers here. I am not sure how to update my motherboard/usb drivers.

Have you tested the device on a vista PC?

I actually just had this happen as well. After hours of playing with it on my laptop and desktop, I finally got my laptop to recognize the device. I turned off my computer, plugged in the device, then started the computer. Then I would reboot the computer. Still with device plugged in. And it recognized it. Not sure why as it doesn't seem to make sense, but I've used it three times now doing it this way.
