Dual boot xp on a Vista computer using an external drive.

Hello
We would like to know how to dual boot a Vista
computer with a XP computer using an external
hard drive. We want to make a copy of our XP computer on to the external drive & plug it into
the Vista computer.
Do we have to make any changes on the Vista computer ?
How can we choose between the Xp & the Vista
operating system when the computer boots ?

based on what you said, you will be violating microsofts xp eula. Xp can only be used on one computer, you CANNOT copy it and use it on another computer as long as the first computer still has it installed.

Use *Edited by AnnMarie - see below* to configure dual-booting with Vista. Since they replaced boot.ini with BCD, it's not easy anymore to change that kind of stuff. Here's the link to the download page:

Hi localboy. renegade600 is quite correct. See below extract from the XP eula:

1.1 Installation and use. You may install, use, access, display and run one copy of the Software on a single computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other device ("Workstation Computer"). The Software may not be used by more than one processor at any one time on any single Workstation Computer.

Therefore if you do intend to run more than one copy of XP (and it sounds as though this is exactly what you are saying), you are violating the eula. CTH does not help members in these circumstances.
