Hi.
I am not sure which categary to put this query in?
I want to buy a laptop that can be used at home and connect to my current internet connection.
I have broadband through Orange.
I do not understand what a laptop needs to have to be able to do this.
I am not particularly bothered about networking to my pc but would consider this if it is easy to do and not too expensive.
My home pc is running XP home.
As you perhaps can tell i dont really know what i am talking about but am fed up of waiting for my hubby to come off the pc before i can get online myself.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Caz

Welcome :)

For the internet look for a inbuilt WiFi or Wireless LAN
Most have them these days.

For the rest of the spec it depends on what you want to do. If it is just for surfing the net then you don't need much.

If you want to watch DVDs then you probably want a big screen.
If you want to travel then you may want a light laptop with good battery time.

there are lots of laptops out there, you can do a little research on your own using cnet you (http://reviews.cnet.com/Notebooks/2001-3121_7-0.html) will find editor and user reviews there. I use cnet regularly to research possible purchases.

As previously stated most laptops these days already have the ability to connect to wireless or wired networks. If you plan to carry the laptop around with you, you do not want one with a large screen. Larger screens are heavy and require more battery power. If you are a gamer watch movies on them, larger screens will come in handy.
