I recently purchased a laptop - HP DV9000. Often when I turn it on (after properly shutting down) I get errors while starting up. Also, if it is left on for a while (say 3 or 4 hours) the screen will go black and freeze there. Any suggstions on how not to completely mess up my computer with all these bad shut-downs??? Thanks in advance. I'm real mad at myself for spending money on a comp without going for the $200 warranty.

if its a recent purchase, you should have a one year warranty. Also what operating system on your computer? xp home, pro, 64, or media center? or other.

Thanks for your response. I have windows vista. We were cheap and got a computer that only came with a two week warranty! (live and learn, right?)
