Has anyone ever had the following error:
"Display Driver stopped responding & has recovered".
Every so often the screen turns black and get the error message.

Also, a couple of times I got a mesage that "Windows could not start and needs to do a system restore to repair"
Has this happened to anyone?

Need to know what drivers your using for the video card. nVidia??
If you do not know then:

Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.

This is where you can find out what kind of video card and monitor your computer has.

Go to the device manager and uninstall the driver, when your computer restarts it should automatically reinstall it.

Well I went to the ATI site and found this:

Currently AMD does not provide any driver support for Mobility Radeon™ products. All driver and technical support for Mobility Radeon™ products is provided by the original laptop or notebook manufacturer. The drivers that are available for download at ati.amd.com are for desktop products only.

To download Windows Vista Mobility Radeon™ drivers or driver updates for your laptop or notebook product, please visit your laptop or notebook manufacturer's website.

What is the brand and model of the laptop?
