I recently tried to install ubuntu while dual booting XP. The problem is when it partitioned, something went wrong and the new partition was made, but the old one (which I wanted to keep) was written over. Now I am trying to install iTunes on the newly formed partition and I receive this error message.
'the folder path "Program Files" contains an invalid character
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello and weclome, buckeyefan.
Can you please elaborate on where you are trying to install iTunes? "newly formed partition" is kind of ambiguous given your earlier description of the botched Ubuntu install.

Thank you for your response :)
Sorry for my vagueness. Here is what happened in more detail.
1. Run ubuntu live CD and start installation
2. Begin part of installation where you create the ubuntu partition. (keep in mind my hard drive is already partitioned into two parts. C: (XP) and K: (Apps, Music, Pictures).
3. Ubuntu successfully creates 3rd partition from the K: drive, but it formats the wrong portion of the partition for ubuntu, and unfortunately installed ubuntu where my Pics/Apps/Music/ect. were.
4. I boot into XP.
5. Upon trying to install iTunes, I received the error message in my first post.
NOTE: when installing itunes it DOES NOT ask for a drive to install to.
Once again I am very appreciative of the help. :thrilled:

So you have previously installed apps to K drive which has now been accidentally formatted as a Linux partition.
Does Windows XP still see a K drive?
Is there anything on it?
You will have a C:\Program Files directory (Winows installs several of it's own apps in there).
Is it possible your environment paths have been set so "Program Files" default location for windows installer is on K: (which no longer exists)?
Have a look in your event viewer and see if there is any expansion of that error message.

Windows does not recognize the K: drive any longer. It only sees the C: and the newly formed D: (which was where linux was supposed to be placed :disgust: )
I'm sorry but you will have to inform me on how to view the event viewer. I apologize for my ignorance.

To view your event viewer, right click on "My computer" (either on your desktop or in Windows Explorer) and select "Manage".
In the tree menu on the left side there will be Event Viewer. The message will probably be in System but it could be in Application.
Just to confirm, so I'm not making an incorrect assumption, you DID lose all your data on your K drive and are attempting to reinstall everything aren't you?

Well at this point it just makes sense to reinstall XP, I have a ridiculously large partition dedicated to ubuntu, and I'm getting error messages for programs I have (and had) on the C: drive. I appreciate the help.
I should also add the errors appeared in the application viewer of the event viewer, Error 1324 program MsiInstaller.
