What is the difference between ...
... the 32 bit and the 64 bit ? and why is 1 better than the other?
sorry for newbie question but just trying to get an understanding. thanks in advance

One runs in 32bit and one runs in 64bit.
For 64bit you need to install 64bit programs and device drivers. So check that the progams you want are available in 64bit versions Also check that device drivers for devices in your PC have 64bit versions.
