I would like to know how to convert a wave sound into a mp3 one. If that requires a software where can I get a free one from the internet.
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. Before I got the reply from you I tried converting the wave file into mp3 format using dBpowerAMP Music Converter. I was successful in doing.
Original file size: 97.4 MB Converted file size: 26.5 MB
But the converted file size is still in MB whereas I want it to be in KB. Can't I compress it further?
Thanks

The further you compress it the less quality you will have.

You need to change the compression options instead of just using the default.

I assume that it has been compressed to a 192kbit 44000hz stereo file.
What you can do is lower the quality to 64, 22500, mono.
It will probably sound rubbish, but it will be smaller.

97.4MB = 99737.6KB
26.5MB = 27136KB
There you go.
If you mean you want to convert a 97MB file to under 1MB, then you are talking about losing 99% of it's quality. As degsy says, it will sound rubbish.

Hi,
Thanks for the info.
The file was about 97MB when I had first created it. And now I have managed to bring it down to about 27MB after converting it into mp3 format (from wave sound format).
Now, I would like to get it close to 5MB or so, as I have seen elsewhere that it was somehow done.
Actually I have read and recorded something which went on to reach 97MB, and I have seen that someone else on the net has recorded the very same thing, and it was only about 5MB.
So, can you help me out.
Thanks,
Soudager

Check the options that I have posted above.

There may also be preset options for MP3, Realmedia and WMA for low quality output.

It depends on the conversion program.
