How do I burn ISO's to a DVD?
I downloaded an ISO image to my PC and have burned it to a DVD as data. I insert the DVD into my other PC to boot from, and it does not read. The drive is a DVD-ROM drive. I have configured the BIOS to boot from the CD drive. I have burned the ISO's twice, one at maximum speed (16x) and the other at slowest speed (4x).
When the PC boots up to the regular OS, I go into the DVD rom drive, and it reads the program on the DVD that way. But it won't boot at restart. I am using Nero (Nero Start Smart to be exact). I click "make a Data DVD". At the next window that opens, I click "Add" and the window opens up to maneuver to the ISO file. I select it and click "Add" and the program is added to Nero. Then I begin the burn. I'm not sure if I am totally doing this correctly. I have not burned an ISO file before. One thing I do notice, is that the ISO file icon is that "white paper looking thing with the 6 colored dots where when you click on it, it says "Windows cannot open this file" and also asks me "if I want to use the web service to find the appropriate program / select the program from a list" thing (sorry, I don't the the name of this icon). Anyone who is ISO savvy out there to help me??? Thanks!!

You are using the wrong method.
What you are doing at the moment is copying the ISO as a single data file to the DVD. You are not actually burning the contents of the ISO. Just double click the ISO file and it will open in Nero. You can then burn it.

When I click on it, it says "Windows cannot open this file" and also asks me "if I want to use the web service to find the appropriate program / select the program from a list".
I chose Nero Start Smart and it gave me an error message: C: (location)(name of file) is not a valid WIN32 application.

Choose nero burnig rom, not smart start.
Or open Nero Burning ROM and file>open> set the file type to iso, cue and then open your file.

I seem not to have Nero Burning ROM. I have Nero OEM w/Nero StartSmart and Nero Express.

Then choose to burn from a disk image.
Change the file type to cue,iso or all files then open the .iso file

Howdy:
The advice Degsy gave you was on the money so not sure why it won't burn. What is the name of the .iso file (what did you download) and are you sure it is not corrupted (where did you download it from)? Murray

Just like Degsy said.. then, add the .iso file and start the burn.

I found where to burn an ISO image. However, my problem now is that when I originally clicked on the ISO program to open it, and it gave me the options I mentioned above, I chose Nero and the program icon turned into a "white page with little blue lines and a red A" on it.
Now when I try to open it, it won't open. I see in the Properties of the icon, that it is defaulted to open with Nerosmart. It is staying in that icon with the blue lines with the red "A". How do I get the program back to the original ISO icon? I have tried re-downloading it, but it downloads as that red "A" icon all the time.

You mean the one you're only able to get by signing up for the Beta programme?
Or the one that was illegally distributed?

LOL......No it's not illegal. I was invited to test it through Microsoft Technet.

I can't see your problem.
Open Nero SmartStart. Choose to burn a disk from an image file. Choose the ISO
