I have two computer at home that I need to transfer file to and from each other. They are set up as both being wireless. For the life of me, maybe since I do not know what I am doing, I can not get the in home networking to work. Both uses xp and they are a desktop dell and a laptop gateway. Can anyone help me with this.

Simply sharing files can be done without a router. If you have a broadband connection and want so share Internet connection to multiple computers a router is the best solution and will keep your computers safter. To share files with XP, I suggest you have a look here. If you need any further help, please let us know.
