Hi Folks,

I'd like some general advice please. I recently bought a Dell pc with Vista premium but my McAfee trial has run out (one month). Anyway McAfee seemed to have eveything in it (antispyware, virus protection etc) but now its run out, Im on AVG anti virus (never had a problem with it in the past) but I've been told I don't need any anti spyware as I have windows defender, is this true ? or would you recommend some Anti spyware to run along windows defender ??

Thanks

Ian

spybot or adaware both will work with vista. both are free and good.

Thanks Renegade...

But do I need these installed or does Windows Defender do the job as an all round anti spyware tool ?

its up to you. I usually have at least two different antispyware packages installed because second opinions are needed. Besides one may check for some things that the other will not check for since none are 100 percent accurate. I wont use Windows Defender.

I just got Vista, don't like it at all by the way, and downloaded Spybot just fine. It refused to use Adaware. Went to the Lavasoft site and Vista isn't listed as compatable with Adaware.

I have it installed and been running Adaware without any problems. I am booted in linux right now so I am not sure what version it is.
