Photo album software recomendations?

Hello,
I've just bought a new digital camera and the software that comes with it is pretty terrible. It's the Casio Hot Album software and its got loads of bad problems. My first reaction is to ditch the software and use a card reader to transfer images across to the pc and to manually organise them there. However, I wondered if anyone could recommend a good free application that I might use to organise my snaps? For example id Google Picaso any good?
