Taskbar Hiders and Virtual Desktops to No Avail

Hello, I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with the Steam game client program. Anyhow, this client is used for many games, including the game I play, Counter-Strike 1.6. For some unimportant reasons, I would like to hide my Steam Client Window, and also my Counter-Strike dedicated server window, so when they are being used, they are not actually visible. I have tried to no avail, using taskbar hiding programs, and even a few virtual desktops, however, even though those programs hide other windows just fine, they cannot seem to hide any window related to the Steam client. The windows simply get hidden for a split second, and then just reappear. Does anyone happen to know why this happens, and if there is anything I can do to fix this? Thanks, - Sina.
