program download from ME to Vista
I want to download my bookmarks and another program from my old PC ME edition to new PC Vista. I don't want to buy a transfer usb cable. I do however have a cross over cable which looks like an ethernet cable. Is this possible using the crossover cable? Both computers are using wireless to use the internet but i don't know how to set the network up so the computers see each other. If I could do that I may be able to download the info I need through the net work. I have tried to go in both directions for 3 days and cannot get it done. help!!!!
thanks Colleen |

Bookmarks can actually be saved to a floppy If you have one, or burnt to a CD. Internet Explorer go to FILE | IMPORT/EXPORT, select Favorites. It will save the file as a bookmark.htm file, then you can import back in on the other computer.
For the program, most all programs MUST BE INSTALLED, just cannot copy it, unless the program is not dependent on Windows to run.

it may be time to invest in one of those usb jump drives. They really do come in handy.
You can email the bookmarks to yourself. As far as the program, normally you cannot move programs from one computer to another, you will have to reinstall.
