I am currently using a NETGEAR DG834PN wireless ADSL router to connect to my home BT Broadband service (Option 1).

I have set the connection up (have been using the router since November), but it constantly has problems holding the wireless connection for more than 10 minutes.

Usually it says i have between 90 and 98% connectivity but I cannot get webpages or login to the web. Apparently problems with the internet connection.

I am using windows XP on my Sony laptop and never had problems connecting with an Ethernet connection. It is only when trying to use wireless.

Has anyone else had this problem? and how did they solve it?

Thanks

how far are you from the router? Does it still drop when the laptop is right next to it?

yes it does. I am usually sat around 3-4 feet from it.

maybe something is interfering, go into your router settings and change channels.

see this (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesstips.mspx), theres a couple of suggestions that may help.

Ok, tried moving the router around the house to get a good signal. It took me 2 hours to get connection via my network, either limited connectivity or nothing (5 seconds to get onto an open network on the street though)...

Then once using my network, it lasted 10 minutes before dropping the connection. I re typed in the access key and still couldnt get access. So turned the laptop of. Tried again this morning and it worked 1st time.

Any other clues? Could it be a firewall issue?
