g3 questions

I am getting an Ibook g3 500 mhz. I am curious as to what the requirments are on an ibook g3 to play dvd's. MY friend has an ibook 900 mhz and it somehow plays dvd's. I am curious how i would be able to upgrade my ibook g3 to play dvd's.


Lasly, i would like to know if there is such thing as mhz upgrades. Like to bring my ibook from 500 mhz to 700. Thankyou.

iBooks are not upgradable. THe processor and video card are both soldered to the mother board. You can not upgrade the processor.

If it's a tray loading CD drive you can upgrade that if you can find the proper drive.

You may be able to find better prices elsewhere.

Putting $100 superdrive into an iBook G3 is a little like putting 22" rims on a Yugo though.
