netscape 7 mail

Since you changed your site recently, I wasn't able to access it through Netscape 4.79.

I just downloaded Netscape 7.02, which gets me here, but I'm having a terrible time with their email program. I prefer to use Netscape for my mail because it's just a one-step effort, rather than having to go to some other site, log on and then get my mail. For business reasons, I check my email an awful lot, sx really would like to keep Netscape, if I can find a way around the following problems.

When I open up "Mail", the bottom half of my screen is filled up with an advertisement. When I close that portion, it does not stay closed for the next mail check, or the next. Each time I choose "Mail", it brings up the ad again. Is this just a new revernue source for Netscape that I can't avoid?

Second problem is when I open an individual message, the top three quarters of the window is filled up with lines and lines of details about the message and sender. In the past, all that would be at the top was the sender's name, email address and subject. What's going on?

I've played around with my preferences, but couldn't find anything to eliminate these irriations.

Any ideas?

Try these suggestions, jessek,

To get rid of the message pane (the advertisement), when you open the email program, go to View>Show/Hide and if there is a checkmark beside Message Pane, click on it to clear the checkmark.

To get rid of the lines and lines of header information, when you open the email program, go to View>Headers and if there is a dot beside All, click on Normal.

Thank you cody and greta for your replies.

Cody, this is not "Netscpae Mail". It is my ISP's mail program that I've always used and can easily get to through Netscape Communicator.

I'll try your suggestions Greta. Hopefully I can rid myself of that annoying ad. I would be very disappointed if this is a permanent new feature of Netscape.

For the benefit of anyone still using a vintage Netscape I'm told it is possible to make the forums look like the old design in your User CP by clicking the link at the top of the page.

user CP

Stephen,

I can not load this site at all with Netscape 4.79. Only Netscape 7.02 which I have downloaded recently. I do not like the way they handle my ISP's email though. Even with the help of Greta above, I just am not taking a liking to the setup.

My User CP does not give me any options about loading the site on Netscape's previous versiouns.

If you go into the User PC link the top of the pages on CTH, then go to Edit Options and scroll down to Styles there's an option there which lets you select "OLD CTH" which is the old template style.

I believe MishY is aware that Netscape 4.x has a problem with the current site and I'm sure he's working on fixing things
