I apologize if this question has been asked before.
Problem:
I have an ativa router connected to my dsl modem and to my desktop pc. (The pc is an Envision, running Windows XP) The internet on the desktop works fine, and I was able to connect my daughters' Nintendo wii to the wireless network, so I know the router is working. But I cannot get my laptop to recognize the wireless network. (I have Windows Vista on the laptop.)
When I try to connect to a wireless network from the laptop, all I see is "Ativa54g Unsecured network", which is not the name of my wireless network. (Mine is called "home wireless") If I try to connect to the Ativa network I get a message saying "limited connectivity" and I have no internet access. When I checked to see my ip address on the laptop it said "media disconnected", and there was no ip address displayed.
I tried turning off the power on my router, modem and computer and then powering them up one at a time. That didn't help.
I've called the Ativa support center and was disconnected twice so I emailed them, but they said it could take 72 hours to get an answer.
Any help would be appreciated!
Jen
