I have new emachine with windows vista. I am having trouble connecting after cable went out till then it was working fine anyway. The usb cord is pluged in however its like it is not reconizing the fact that it is pluged in and i have it all set up on that computer for a wireless network the computer downstairs is working fine. Everything is pluged in right checked it 3 times even replaced usb cord and still nothing. I tried system restore and nothing.

Forgot to mention that its the basic windows vista and i am using ethernet connection. I am a novice when it comes to computers.

I have the usb cord pluged into ethernet port however when i do a diagnose repair the computer tells me to plug the usb cord in. I have checked it 3 times and everything is hooked up right.I have cable connection and everything was working till the cable went out.

maybe a different USB port? Although I'm sure you've tried that.

Hi, what brand modem and router are you using?
If I followed your posts correctly you have 2 PCs, one has a wireless connection and can access the internet and the other is connected via USB to the modem/router and that does not get internet access. Is this correct?
Have you checked the device manager on the problem machine to see if any devices show up as having a problem?

I have tried 2 unhook wireless network and hooking cable connection up as you would normally do and still says i need to plug in usb cord.
