Unhappy Power problem =[ please help!!!!

Ok. I think something is wrong with my ibook g3. I charged it all day so it was at 100 percent battery power. I pluged it in, and here is where the problem comes. It still looses battery power but very very slowly. And then it turns off at 0. Sometimes it goes down to 9 perrcent and slowly rises, or stays at like 6 percent and doesnt go up or down. I dont know if there is something wrong with the power cord, or the laptop. it's really worrying me. It took me a long time to get this laptop, and i really REALLY need some help.

My guess.. the battery has outlived it's life. They do die over years of use. I'd try a new battery first.
