win 98 not recognizing external hard drive

I have a maxtor eide hd (internal); I purchased an adaptor so that I can use it as an external drive

installation went well, but win98se doesn't see it

Make sure the external drive is formatted to FAT32 for 98SE to read it, if it is formatted as NTFS 98 cannot read it.
