Mac-Pc Network help
Hello everyone, I hope someone can help:
I am trying to set up a small home network to share a printer. In this network I have an XP Home desktop with printer hardwired to a wireless Netgear router, an XP Laptop, and a macbook. I have the network set up and all computers are in the same workgroup. The Laptop and Desktop can communicate and share files and printers fine. The laptop and desktop can read my macbook, but I cannot get the macbook to read the others. When I go to finder>Go>connect to server and type in smb:// and the ip of the desktop I get an error mesage that says "the finder cannot complete the operation because data in smb://... could not be read or written. (Error code -36). I cannot find any information about this error code. Could someone please give me information to fix this. Thank you very much |

Some things that may help with Samba networks on a Mac:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10596 http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29326 http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15587 http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13795 http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10346 The main issue is Macs aren't designed to use Samba networks easily. I've never used any of the above products, but something there may help you.
