Hi
Stupidly my sis was trying to upgrade xp from windows98, and she went into the dos mode and typed delete windows. Silly girl hadnt made a reboot disk.
Since then you can not boot pc up when you try it comes up with install windows xp or windows. If you go to xp it want let you delete whats in memory. and then says does not support device for using cd.
If you go to windows it tells you to choose command with prompt, and eventually says win.command missing, himem.sys missing and a few others as well.
I am basicaly a complete novice and if anyone can help please try and not use too much technical terms

thanks
katrina

Welcome to CTH

Boot, 1st screen see what key gets you into SETUP, usually DEL or a "F" key.

Once in SETUP, find where you can change the Boot Order (sequence) and make the CDROM as the 1st boot device.

Now save & exit, have the XP CD in, a screen will then come up saying press any key to boot from CD

Hit any key you want, it will now boot from the XP CD and follow the screens to install XP.
