Hi my first time on here
I ahve been donated a hp pavillion 3130 pc,which i intend my 2 youngest kids to use.
I ahve fdisked and reformatted hard drive, I am trying to load W98 SE, in place of W95
To date I have not been able to detect the cd in the cd rom
I have downloaded DOSCDROM from Bootdisk.com, have tried all for option after installation with no luck,
I have found out that the CD ROM is a Tatung 1216 e, I have downloaded from Driverguide.com a driver for it, when I click run after downloading I am asked would I like to unzip, i click yes and am told 3 files have been unzipped
What I do not understand is how I put the drivers onto a floppy and then upload into the pc that i am trying to fix, when it tells me 3 files have been unzipped where are they, all i see is a blue box that says install and another icon that says Tatung cd system file, and i do not know what to do next

Pleeeze help, i have been at it for 4 nights now...........

The files you unzipped need to be copied to the boot diskette you made, assuming there is room for them on the diskette. Then, you would have to modify the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files on the diskette to use the new files rather than the universal ones already there. If you post the names of the unzipped files, and the contents of the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files we can probably tell you what modifications to make.

However, if the universal CD-ROM drivers did not work, then it is likely that either the CD-ROM drive is bad, or it is connected to a non-standard interface for which you may also need drivers.
