Welcome to CTH

Booting directly into SAFE Mode means the Windows full registry is not be loaded and may be corrupt. Try restoring the registry by:

Start your computer, press and hold CTRL, and then choose Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the Windows 98 Startup menu.

At the MS-DOS prompt, type cd\windows\command, and then press ENTER. Where windows is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed.

At the C: prompt, type scanreg /restore, and then press ENTER

Select the previous registry you want to restore, and then press ENTER.NOTE: A properly working registry has the word "Started" next to the date.

When you receive notification that you restored a properly working registry, press ENTER to restart your computer

No it will not, if you had installed any programs since this started then you would have to reinstall that program. Restoring the registry does not mess with any files/programs you have installed, except above.

Reboot, 1st screen comes up start tapping the DEL key (or whatever key the screen tells you to use to get into SETUP).

Once in SETUP, usually the first menu item, probably called Standard.
Check and make sure the DATE & TIME are correct, if not Change it. Then find where you can SAVE & EXIT. Now does it boot up?

Yes you can take the drive hook to another computer as a SLAVE drive and get whatever is needed from it.

ok it still boots up to the start up menu were you can select normal safe mode safemode comand prompt only and those others.....and the time thing still pops up after changing it if tried restoring the regestry and it dosent workt then either.....so i will take the HDD and put it in my computer and take what is needed....then ill wipe it and have a another HDD for myself....i hope
