I was not sure where I should post this or even if I would find an answer / response to my question but here it is regardless.

Audio (on board):
Description: Realtek AC'97 Audio
Driver Ver: 5.10.0.6240
Driver Date: 4-25-2007
Driver Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

Video:
Description: ALL-IN-WONDER X800 Series
Driver Ver: 8.203.0.0
Driver Date: 12-11-2005
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies Inc.

Well whenever I play any type of audio or video on my computer. I hear the chipmunk voice. No matter if it is streaming off the net or if it is just simply a mp3 that I have.

History:

My computer has worked great since I built it 2 years ago. I downloaded itunes 7.2 last night and upon start this morning I was experiencing problems. I tried doing a system restore but the audio is still messed up. I have also tried updating the drivers but nothing has helped.

I just purchased an audio card off of newegg and I am awaiting its arrival do you think i will still have this problem once it gets here?

I would appreciate if anyone has any information on this I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Nick

P.S. I had this in hardware and was getting no response so i figured it was more of an application problem.:disgust:

Hi,

I had the same problem with my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 7300 laptop.

Tried to automatically update the driver using

Control Panel->Sounds And Audio Devices->Sounds And Audio Devices Properties->Hardware->RealTek AC'97...->Driver->Update Driver

but windows unhelpfully suggests that I already have the latest driver.

Anyway I found the RealTek site and downloaded the latest driver package
A4.01 and installed it as per instructions in the readme file (i.e. extract zip file and run setup.exe)

Direct Link
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC

Or use
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
and follow the link for AC'97 Audio Codecs

Everything is now working perfectly with driver 5.10.0.6250.

Having been frustrated with this problem myself I thought I would post the solution that worked for me.
