Hi praclarush, does the runtime error occur when you run the program in Safe Mode (restart your computer and tap F8 continuously as it restarts)?

Ok, well post back when you have had a chance to test this. I am trying to establish whether the problem is caused by the program itself or a conflict with another application.

Ok sorry this took so long, I had a lot of work dumped on me. anyways to answer your question. yes the runtime error still occurs even in safe mode.

No problem. If the error also occurs in Safe Mode, it's possible that the program has corrupted if it was running without any problems beforehand.
Have you tried uninstalling it, rebooting and reinstalling it?

I don't know how to unstall this program it dosn't have an uninstall option and it dosn't show up in add & remove programs, but I have tried to reinstall over it hoping that it would fix a corrupted file or something but that also didn't work.

In that case, it would be a good idea to get in touch with their support team praclarush. Is this (http://www.helper.com/therapist/therapist_helper.htm) the software you are talking about? If so, click on Support and there is a phone number you can call and a link to email them if you prefer.
The only other option would be to delete as many Therapist Helper files as you can find manually and remove as many entries as you can from the registry but this method is hit and miss and definitely should not be your first choice.

I've been using the Therapist Helper 5.11 for several years and only within the last few days, after adding the latest updates to the WinXPproSP2 in the office, did this same error show up. If the database is from the XP Pro machine, I get the error, but if I run the database from my XP Home SP2 in the kitchen. I can get around the problem and the Office machine will run the database from the kitchen machine. I haven't quite figured out what is the cause of the problem, but it's a network protection/security issue between the latest WinXPproSP2 OS updates and Thelper 5.11. If I only knew C++. The Brand Software, Helper people no longer support this version and their latest version is too expensive for a very part-time therapy practice.

Hi Sactoguy, welcome to CTH.
Yor issue is probably different to the original poster since they were running on SP1 and had the error 2 months ago but I'll leave it in this topic for now.
Judging by your message, the "kitchen" machine has not had the latest MS updates applied?
Can you do a manual Windows Update on the kitchen machine and list the available updates here (don't install any of them yet). and we'll see if we can identify a potential culprit.

Hi to Smurfy,
Thanks for the response.
Guess I missed the part about the original poster running SP1... that caught me off guard since SP2 is available for free and is a good idea. But the pic he posted is exactly the same as what I originally encountered. Eventually, I was able to get past to load most all of Therapist Helper. Got to a point where it stalled after almost 100 percent installed, but then showed a message I couldn't decipher and required a shutdown... the instructions even suggested a reboot of the machine. My kitchen machine runs the most current WinXPSP2 Home Edition with updates being downloaded automatically and installed upon review. The kitchen machine is now the machine that carries the Therapist Helper database. The office machine is running WinXPSP2 Professional and has most of the updates current. Last week, both machines received new hard drives, which were zeroed, formatted and all programs reinstalled. Prior to last week, the Therapist Helper database was kept on the office machine without any problems. Only today was I unable to get to the office machine database, even though I could pull a backup copy from the office machine, through the network, and install it successfully on the kitchen machine. I'm fairly certain that there is something in the latest WinXPSP2 Profession updates (installed on the office machine) that is not allowing a portion of the Therapist Helper database to cleanly load onto the kitchen machine from the office machine. I'd get the list of updates off the office machine but my daughter's up there sleeping.
The other thing- why is it so hard to send that five buck Paypal?
