View Full Version : trouble installing mandrake 8.1

when i try to install mandrake 8.1 i place cd in machine,restart it spins cd starts to load(loading program in memory) it get about half way thru then cd stops spinning and nothing happens.I have checked i have enough memory cpu speed and all that stuff.I ran into this problem before,but after a few tries it loaded ,but this time after 15 tries i need some orther type help ty

It sounds like a CD or CD-ROM issue. If you made the CD's from downloaded ISO's, then I would suggest you reburn them again, only use a slower speed. If you bought them, then try using another CD-ROM drive. How old is the drive and how is it configured within the system (Primary/Secondary, Master/Slave) and what other device do you have attached to the IDE interface?

its the only drive i have 3 years old,also when i play a game that has to have cd alot of times it will stop running during the game,then after 2 or 3 min it will start running again

i got the program loaded,but now i need a phone modem that will work with linux.any ideas
