Not connecting

I'm having troubles somewhere and dont know whats going on. I can only connect to my browser. Anything that involves the internet such as games or napster wont work. Nothing will connect. So basically the money i paid for napster and my games are going to waste. I can get on msn but i cant do webcam or use the the mic. I've turned my firewall off, turned av off, turned modem and router off, unplugged them both, reset my router, and updated the firmware. Nothing works. I've posted this on another site like this and they couldnt tell me anything. I have no idea what to do. Anyone have any suggestions? Also my comp isnt the only one that does this. My dads cant do it either.

Do you use a router for your shared connection?

Is this a new problem? (i.e. has your connection worked before and is this just now happening?)

This sounds like you've had some severe firewall restrictions places on your connect (either directly or inadvertently).

Please don't find this insulting, but are you sure your dad's computer is unable to run the services you want to? If he is not, then it is likely not a localized PC problem but a problem with your router or ISP. Have you tried a different router?

I've narrowed it down to my router i guess. We both cant use anything other than the browser so i know its not just my comp. I dont know how to check to see if i have firewall problems but i've turned mine off and it still dont work.

Well its not my router. I hooked my comp directly to the modem and the problem still occured. Same with my dads computer.

I suggest you contact your ISP then. Unless you've gotten the same virus/worm that disables the same services on both computers (not likely) its not a local problem and there isn't anything we can do for you here. Although, it seems equally unlikely to me the your ISP is blocking your services, but its your only recourse now.
