Hi,

I recently installed a Netgear wireless card into a friends PC. It worked fine except the driver supplied with the card caused Windows (XP) to display slightly differently, e.g buttons and similar would be different. Not major but none the less noticeable.

Netgear sugested several fixes including downloading updated drivers. Nothing resolved the problem. The person concerned has virtually given up on it now but I'm curious if this is a common problem and particularly which WiFi addapters do and DO NOT interfere with Windows.

drivers for wifi should not have done any general modifications to xp's look. The only way I can see it happening if theres not enough resources on the computer.

Drivers don't typically change the windows environment, what changes exactly were made?

By not enough resources do you mean RAM?

The changes were along the lines of fonts size changing and buttons changing e.g. the shutdown buttons were displayed smaller and all in a box.
display stuff that did not effect fuctionality
