DVD Rippers don't download movies. They extract the DVD from the disk to your hard drive.

Don't ask your question again in another forum.

download.com and other sites list freeware programs.
Unfortunately you will have to try a few out and find which work and which you like.
On the plus side you can pass on that information to others in the future :)

Ok...It's just an ordinary DVD movie that you would buy from walmart. HITCH. and other DVD,(star wars, LOTR, Without a Paddle) 'K?
I'm going to calorado(i'm in wisconsin) and want something to do on the 12hr bus ride there. I have an Archos 404 PMP. It's great! 30gb hdd(could be bigger) Check it out if you don't have one. I just want to put DVD movies onto my Archos 404. THANKS

Then, all you need do is follow Degsy's instructions.
Looked up that player and it seems you need the docking station to download videops to that piece of equipment. I assume you have that?

no..Isn't there a program that extracts the files from the DVD and puts them on your hdd? I'm looking for a FREEWARE one that works and was wondering if you know anything

That doesn't matter. If you care to search your player, you will see you MUST have the docking station in order to install/download movies to that player.
Until you get that, you can have every program out there free or commercial and they won't do you any good.
As per PCMag:
Add the optional docking station ($99), and you've got yourself a nice little portable digital video recorder as well.

The best free ripper disappeared for a while - I don't know if it's still available anywhere. It made use of 2 programs you say you have, but don't work for you. It made them work.
I read that there were raids conducted in various countries, in which they were trying to gather evidence that would identify the author of RipIt4Me.
