Hey,

Well in a few months ill be buying a xbox360 and some other stuff for it. And i want it in my room but our wired/wireless router is downstairs. I dont wanna make my Xbox360 wireless so yeah.

Will i need another router in my room? Our phoneline is one of those ones that are split in the basement into 3 (all the same line on all phones). Our first router is attached to it somewhere down there.

Im wondering if it would be possible to attach another router to the line or should i be able to just hook it through the phone plug in my room?

And do you need a computer attached to the router to make it work? Or will they work on their own once plugged in. (Because i dont have a second computer.)

And would two routers both connected to the same line slow down my net speed?

If theres a easier solution, lemme know. (Without it being buying the 120$ wireless adapter, or moving either the PC or Xbox)

If you need mroe clarity in my questions, just ask. ty for responses.

is the computer in your room?
if so then as long as you have xp on it you can connect the xbox360 to it and get on xbox live.

you can connect it to a modem and/or a router i have one hooked up to my computer at the moment but what you hook it up to obviously has to be able to connect to the internet

Mmm. im just wondering if a modem/router can work without it being connected to a PC also. (since a router's CP is on the computer)

The only way you can connect a second router is if you have a second modem and an entirely new service contract for the internet.

If you don't want it to be wireless you have 2 options (but I recommend you go wireless):
-1.) Run a cat5 cable through the floors/air ducts/ceilings/etc to get to your router
-2.) Use ethernet over power ( http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=152644 )
