Annoying Refresh clicks

Can anyone tell me how I would go about silencing those annoying refresh clicks which keep happening? I'm unsure of which of my programs (presumed to be a page refresh) is causing this background sound. It's driving me crazy because the louder my volume, the louder the clicks. There must be some way of eliminating them .... at least audibly. My OS is XP PRO. Please someone help me.

Goto Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Sounds
Scroll down to the Windows Explorer seciton and select Start Navigation.
Set the sound to None.
