Hi there, I posted a problem in windows XP about rebooting my laptop to a fresh install but all that is possible is that I buy an XP disc which I don't want to do. So I was told to come here to ask you guys the question. I have an old works laptop which was given to me due to a contract running out. I unlocked the admin password with some software that I had and now All I want to do is remove the domains which all the user accounts are on and have it like a normal logon screen as you would for Windows XP Home, Here is a screenshot of what I mean:-

Would appreciate alot if you could help =]

Many Thanks
Josh.

Couple comments before we continue:
1.) Please forgive my skepticism, but most companies will at least give you the admin password when they permanently hand over a computer. I do not wish to accuse and offer this as hypothetical advice, but if this is a stolen laptop, I suggest you consider giving it back. With company computing devices, there are more laws for retribution than larceny/theft due to proprietary and privacy concerns.
2.) If you do this, you will not be able to access the profiles that were associated with the domain by logging on. You'll have to browse to the directories for the profiles and move needed files manually.

Log in under the local administrator account: Administrator where the domain is *****(this computer)

Right click my computer and click properties. Click on the Computer Name tab.Click on the "Change" button next to "To rename this computer or join a domain or workgroup". Click the radio button next to Work Group and enter a work group name in the box. You can call it anything you want ("HOME" and "WORKGROUP" are the most common).

Start -> run -> "gpedit.msc" -> enter

computer configuration -> Windows Setting -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
In the right pane find "Interactive Logon: Do not require CTRL, ALT, DEL" and set it to "Enabled"

Open the control panels and open user accounts. Click "Change the way users log on and off". Check "Use Welcome Screen" and enable Fast User Switching.

When all is said and done you can restart. Note, when you are in the User Accounts window you may want to create a new user since you won't be able to use the domain accounts anymore.

Thanks ever so much for the help my friend. And I can assure you this is not a stolen laptop, I'm not a person to do such a thing. The only reason I have it with no admin password is because the company had shut down.
