everytime i run fireworks, my windows vista color scheme changes from aero to basic and back when i close fireworks! does this happen because of my insufficient SYSTEM RAM? (1GB DDR2) or VIDEO RAM? (128MB Dedicated + 128MB Shared from SYSTEM RAM) or is it due to fireworks color scheme?
anyone using Vista with fireworks or photoshop?

Hi,
As simply as possible, it all depends on an applications compatibility with Vista. For example, my version of Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X would run in basic mode. Then they released patch 10.10 (had to been patched thru 10.02 and 10.03 before applying) which then run with Aero enabled.
So have a quick look for a Vista patch/update from the software's 'site.

Check you Windows Experience Index as follows:
Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Performance Information and tools>Check Your Windows Experience.
This will give you performance ratings for the major components of your system, and will point out the weak sister. My guess in your case it will be memory and video card. You need the system rating of 3 minimum. The system rating is that of the lowest component rating.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the 3 rating is the minimum for Aero.

Hi rwt325,
My guess in your case it will be memory and video card.
It's not that manuleka can't use Aero, it's the fact that when he uses a certain programme, it changes to basic whilst using that application and reverts to Aero when he closes Fireworks.
everytime i run fireworks, my windows vista color scheme changes from aero to basic and back when i close fireworks!
That makes it application specific, not his system. I have an Index score of 5.3 and suffer the same fate as manuleka when using Paint Shop Pro, as outlined in my previous post. A patch from Corel, for Vista solved the problem. That will probably be the case when/if Adobe release a Vista patch for Fireworks.

It depends on the application. Photoshop CS2 won't work here with aero enabled too ;) Check for a newer version of the application on the manufacturer's website ;)
