I'm on a network using cable modem , cisco 2950 switch and cisco firewall. All my other pc on the network are working fine no connection problems. When I try and use my laptop on the network I can't get a connection for more than a second. It keeps coming and going about every second. Tried change cable no difference. Was wondering if this could be the network card in the laptop going out.
Any help would be great.
Thanks >>>James

Few questions...
Do you have an agreement with your ISP for multiple IP addresses?
If no, does your firewall support NAT (you didn't give the model)?
That actually has little to do with your problem, I'm just curious.
Connections cycling up and down are "usually" a result of poor connections. Most of the time it has to do with a loose connector that can't make a solid connection. Unfortunately, the same can happen when the spring loaded gold/copper connectors inside the port stop working properly (i.e. retract but don't come back).
