I bought a firewire card for my computer so i could transfer videos off of my panasonic mini dv camcorder. I installed it and everything was fine. But, when I tried to hook up my camera, my computer wouldn't find my camera. It was like it just wasn't hooked up. I'm planning on either buying a new camera that uses sd cards instead of tapes, or just get a video transfer device like the Pinnacle Studio 500 USB. The firewire card is a Creative I/O IEEE 1394a + usb 2.0 combo card. Should I give up on it and buy something else, or is this fixable?

Did you make sure that the camcorder was switched on and ready to play? Then hopefully your comp should find it
