Angry Don't want vista

Hey all,

I'm getting a new laptop and I have to get a dell because they're the only people I have any credit with. I have a Dell desktop right now. All of the laptops Dell make now are loaded with Windows Vista and I personally don't want it or like the OS. I was wondering if there was any way I could get rid of the Vista install on my new laptop and use the Windows Home XP edition SP1a disc to install it on my laptop. (Or take it to someone to have it done for me.)

Thanks for any help!

Howdy:

Which XP cd are you referring to here? The one that came with your desktop?

Won't work.

Firstly, the cd for your desktop was made specifically for your desktop and won't have the drivers necessary to install on the laptop.

Secondly, it is illegal as that cd is married to the system it came with and you wouldn't be able to activate it. That means it stops working in 30 days or less.

If you want XP, you get to go out and buy a retail version.
