Help!! I have an unknown file on my desktop that will not accept a program to open it. I tried to delete it, but I get the message: "cannot find the specified file, please specify the correct path and file name". I tried all the solutions in "Help & Support" and even searched the internet for a program to help me open this file. I then used the search program to locate it within my computer, but it is not in my computer!! How can a file show on your desktop but can't be located of deleted? Please help,Thanx.

Hi
Try booting into SAFE MODE and removing it. (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/tutorial/article/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode)
Cheers

Thanx for your advice Beanie! Unfortunately it didn't work. I booted into safe mode and attempted to delete the file and instead suffered the same result as in normal mode. I also appreciated your input too Chryssi2001; to answer your question the name of the file is "His Best", but I can't open it because it is not supported by a program.

Hi Ashen shugar,
So the name of the file is His Best. Are you sure it's a file and not a folder? This doesn't sound right, it could be malware related.
It could be part of another program.
please specify the correct path and file name
As it says here you don't have the correct path and file name.
Is it like an icon? Right click on it and click properties. Check in all tabs if you can see the path and the file please. If there is a shortcut tab information should be there. It will show something like c:\programfiles\His Best\xxxxx.exe (xxxxx should be the file name).
Try revealing files and folders and then try to look for it again.
See link below.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html to view hidden files and folders.
Here is the link how to search and find it.
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/tutorial/article/how-to-delete-files-and-folders
If above failed go Start>Search>for files or folders, type there His Best and click search.
Hopefully you will find it.
If after these tries you still can't find it, you should better post a HijackThis log in Cyber Safety forum here and they will help you.

If His Best is a folder (not an empty one) Killbox won't work.
Killbox removes only empty folders.

you really need to do more research - killbox will get rid of files.
KillBox is a tool to delete in-use files, if the file is running, KillBox will attempt to end the process (close the running file) and delete it.

nope, I did not miss that part - however, you may need to fix your wording so what you are saying is clear because it seems what you typed is not what you meant.

This is clear enough for me. We try to help this guy and not continue this.
