my computer just shuts down right after you start it nothing happens on the monitor or anything you can heard the hard drive click and that is it it shuts down sometme it takes about 40 sec others it take about 5sec i have test everything but the cpu i think i have a bad cpu please let me know what you think..

windows Xp ... when it does come on it does nothing. the fan on the cpu slows down the speeds up unless you hold the reset button in. the it goes back to the same speed... but let go and it does it again then it shut off.

If the hard drive is clicking, the chances are good the hard drive has failed. You could put the hard drive into another computer as a slave and see if you can access it.
